AMAZONICA
The Recording Academy felt compelled to create a new Grammy Awards “category” called “Classic World Music” partly due to Amazonica -- they could not classify it, and Rolling Stone called the music “indescribable”. BBC Music said “one can draw parallels with present day Britain”, and the French press “come to know this magnificent CD!” Top 10 CD in USA’s Absolute Sound picks; Soundtrack to Brazil’s World Expo Pavilion in Lisbon 2000. Amazonica continues to inspire musicians, dancers, DJ’s, and scholars. The album is widely available for purchase.
RHYTHMIC FISSION
Pushing the bounds of conventional categorization, the groundbreaking project Rhythmic Fission is an intense meld of electronica groove and classical works for the active listener- featuring composer Miguel Kertsman, renowned DJs Tracy Young, Dan the Automator (of Gorillaz), reworking well-known and obscure pieces by composers such as Ravel and Bach, as well as Edgard Varèse and Alban Berg.
